Provence, with its stunning landscapes and timeless charm, is a destination that draws countless couples from around the world. As I eagerly anticipated a wedding in this enchanting region for nearly a year, my heart raced at the thought of immersing myself in the wonders of France—the French Riviera, Côte d’Azur, Nice, Cannes, Monaco, and the famous lavender fields. Each of these captivating destinations had been on my “must-see” list for far too long! Finally, the opportunity arose, and I planned to spend an entire week soaking in the beauty of Southern France.

An Unforgettable Vacation: Romance in Nice

During the last week of August, I and my partner ventured to Nice, and what an experience it was! Although our time on the French Riviera was limited, we relished every moment. The French lifestyle, characterized by its humility and warmth, enchanted us. We enjoyed heavenly meals, sipped exquisite wines, and took in the breathtaking coastal views. The ambiance of Nice—with its vibrant streets and the shimmering Mediterranean—felt like paradise on earth.

Destination Weddings: A Gathering of Love

This wedding was no ordinary affair; it was a destination celebration! Neither the bride nor groom were locals, and guests—including the DJ—traveled from the Netherlands to be part of this special day. The wedding unfolded in the picturesque medieval village of Tourrettes-Sur-Loup, where the groom’s parents welcomed everyone into their charming home, which later served as the evening reception venue.

Celebrating Love: A Reflection on Alexa and Michie

Alexa and Michiel, the beautiful couple at the center of this celebration, have been together for 16 wonderful years, embodying the essence of enduring love. Their story proves that romance can flourish over the years. One of the wedding’s most memorable moments was witnessing Michiel’s emotional reaction upon seeing Alexa for the first time in the garden. Surrounded by friends and family, their love shone brightly, accentuated by the laughs and giggles of children during the ceremony.

As a photographer, I was privileged to capture these fleeting moments. I was particularly moved by the creativity and thoughtfulness behind their wedding cake—baked by Alexa’s best friend and adorned by the couple’s daughters as a surprise for their parents. The mood of the wedding was beautifully laid-back, perfectly reflecting the couple’s personality.
